Las Vegas

Published on: March 6, 2025

Las Vegas is a crazy city with all sorts of choices to have fun or get into a little bit of trouble. Having grown up just outside of Vegas I look at it in a slightly different way than others do. I enjoyed growing up there but wouldn’t want to live there again. It is a wonderful city to visit for a little debauchery. The city has also become a place for world class entertainment and food!

We visit every now and again for different reasons. This time it was a trip with friends and it was a wonderful weekend.

We went to go see Ka, which is a Cirque du Soleil show and this is a staple of Las Vegas. If you have never been to a Cirque show you need to check it out. They have many options in Vegas as well as travelling shows around the world. I have seen many of these shows throughout the year. Ka has been running for 20 years and is one I had never seen. The acrobatics of the performers is absolutely incredible! One of the main elements of Ka that makes it so unique is the stage, which moves up, down, side to side, spinning around, horizontal, vertical, and all sorts of craziness that has to be seen to understand.

We stayed at the newer Virgin Hotel, which used to be the Hard Rock Hotel. It is a couple blocks off of the famous Las Vegas strip, but was still close enough to everything so we could walk or take a short Uber (depending on traffic) to where we needed to go.

If the picture here looks delicious it is because it was!! We had dinner at an interesting restaurant in the Cosmopolitan called Superfrico. It is listed as an Italian American psychedelic eatery. The food was amazing including the tableside mozzarella that you see pictured here. In addition to the meal there were performances approximately every 10-15 minutes throughout the restaurant. The performances were anywhere from burlesque to drag to juggling! It was definitely a dinner where you could have a little extra curricular on board as well.

Meow Wolf is an interactive and digital art experience that has locations in multiple cities including in Las Vegas. There was so much to see and look at while we were here. It is located in an entertainment complex called Area15, which includes many different eateries, bars, and other fun activities.

Meow Wolf is hard to describe through text. If you are close to a location you need to just make that a destination to experience.

In all it was a fun Vegas weekend with friends. We will of course go back Vegas again and again as there is always something to see and do for the entire queer family!
